A Practice Limited to Licenses and Regulatory Law. This is the Ray & Bishop Difference.

The Dental Board of California licenses dentists and registered dental assistants (RDAs).   Dental Board cases are investigated by the Board’s own Enforcement Unit, which has field offices in Orange and Sacramento.  In discipline cases, the Board is represented by the Licensing Section of the Office of the Attorney General.  All Dental Board cases, including license reinstatements, are heard by the Office of Administrative Hearings.

The California Board of Psychology licenses psychologists, registered psychologists (psychologists in training), and Psychological Assistants.  The Board of Psychology can conduct its own investigations with its enforcement analysts or Special Investigator, or refer investigations to the Health Quality Enforcement Unit with the Division of Investigation of the Department of Consumer Affairs.  The Board is represented at hearing by the Office of the Attorney General Health Quality Enforcement Section.  License reinstatement hearings are held by the Board itself, all other cases are heard by the Office of Administrative Hearings.

The California State Pharmacy Board licenses pharmacists, advance practice pharmacists, pharmacist interns, pharmacy technicians, pharmacies and other pharmacy-related facilities.   The Pharmacy Board employs Board pharmacist inspectors in the field to conduct inspections of pharmacies and investigations of pharmacies and pharmacy personnel.  The Board is represented at hearing by the Office of the Attorney General, Licensing Section, in its discipline cases.  License reinstatement and other penalty relief hearings are held by the Board itself, all other cases are heard by the Office of Administrative Hearings.

The Board of Behavioral Sciences licenses Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFT) and Interns (IMF), Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW) and Associates (ASW), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors (LPCC) and Interns (APCC), and Licensed Educational Psychologists (LEP).  The Board employs a Special Investigator and also refers investigations to Department of Consumer Affairs Division of Investigation investigators at DCA field offices.  The Board is represented at hearing by the Office of the Attorney General, Licensing Section, in its discipline cases.  BBS shares many of the mandated reporting laws with the Medical Board of California, including 805 reports for loss of privileges.  License reinstatement and other penalty relief hearings are heard by the Board itself, all other cases are heard at the Office of Administrative Hearings.

The Physical Therapy Board of California licenses physical therapists (RPTs) and physical therapy assistants (PTAs).  While not licensed, the Board also regulates physical therapy aides.  Physical Therapy Board investigations are carried out as desk investigations by analysts or field investigations by investigators from the Department of Consumer Affairs Division of Investigation.  DCA investigators are often paired with physical therapist experts in teams for investigations, particular on-site visits.  The Board is represented at hearing by Deputy Attorneys General from the Office of the Attorney General, Health Quality Enforcement Section.  License reinstatement hearings are held by the Board itself, all other cases are heard by the Office of Administrative Hearings.
